Job Description: This individual will serve as a valuable member of the corporate tax team and will have primary responsibility for the company’s sales and use tax and other business regulatory compliance for our locations in US, Canada, and Puerto Rico. A successful candidate will be detail oriented, well organized with excellent project management skills, and possess a strong interest to grow with the company. Job Responsibilities: Monitor sales and use tax collections at our stores and ecommerce sites to ensure compliance. Monitor, analyze, and communicate relevant tax law changes to the tax department. Perform research and document the company’s indirect tax accounting positions and processes. Assist with implementation of new processes and reporting tools. Preparation of monthly, quarterly or annual regulatory requirements including sales and use tax returns, B&O and gross receipts tax filings, and other regulatory compliance for US, Canada, Puerto Rico, and other markets. Support sales and use tax audits and correspondence with tax authorities. Process month end accruals, journal entries, and account reconciliations relating to indirect taxes. Job Requirements: Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Moderate Microsoft Office skills needed. Experience with Sage ERP, Avalara tax software is a plus. Advanced Excel skills are preferred. Bachelor’s degree preferred. 1-2 years accounting or tax experience required. An appreciation of the culture of Zumiez and an ability to integrate well. Strong project management ability. Able to act as primary owner of individual projects, analysis and process while working cross-functionally outside immediate work group. Organizational skills are a must. Good decision making and problem-solving skills.
