Job Description: The Tax Counsel / Senior Tax Counsel position will provide tax planning advice on a wide variety of tax issues affecting Chevron's businesses. The position reports to the Manager, Houston Tax Planning and Property Tax. Job Responsibilities: Primary focus is on federal corporate taxation, with a significant focus on Chevron's domestic oil and gas operations and marketing/trading of crude oil, refined products and natural gas. Provide tax planning advice on a wide variety of tax issues affecting Chevron's businesses. Handling complex tax issues affecting domestic oil and gas operations and marketing/trading of crude oil, refined, and natural gas. Advising management of tax implications of proposed business transactions. Interfacing with company personnel in Corporate Tax, Treasury and Legal in addition to other departments A fundamental understanding of the Internal Revenue Code and Regulations is a necessity. Specific expertise in U.S. transfer pricing methods is a plus. Job Requirements: Strong knowledge of Internal Revenue Code and Regulations Self-starter with outstanding interpersonal skills Excellent written and oral communications skills J.D.
