Job Description: This position is responsible for leading software concept development of automotive infotainment systems and connected car applications at Volkswagen Group’s Innovation Center California. The ideal candidate would excel at working with multiple cross disciplinary project teams to imagine and develop novel ideas that make our vehicles a meaningful part of our customers’ digital ecosystem. The role involves championing a compelling story of innovation across VW Group, and to inspire main stakeholders within the organization The candidate would also be responsible for investigating new developments in current and future connected vehicle infotainment development with a focus on identifying future technologies. Day to day activities for this would involve creating and leading the process for selecting, testing, and tracking top ideas for technical experimentation and productization. The role gives the flexibility to learn new things, try new technology, seek opportunities to grow, mentor & be mentored, & participate in Volkswagen Group’s innovation ecosystem. Job Responsibilities: Track ideas and their impact and infuse the outcomes of proof of concepts into real products Project management of concept development teams using agile methodologies Design and develop cutting-edge software modules and distributed computing concepts for automotive products Present your work at internal and external technology events and workshops with main stakeholders and potential companies Identify and collaborate with external companies in Silicon Valley to bring disruptive technology and influence existing project portfolio Capture intellectual property Technical leadership for end-to-end software architecture of mobile and in-vehicle applications Job Requirements: Conceptual thinking skills Proficient in at least one of the following programming languages: Java or C++. Resource management Working knowledge of Python. Ability and enthusiasm to learn and apply new and upcoming technology. Strong presentation and communication skills. Influencing and negotiation skills Computer savvy Integration - joining people, processes or systems Familiar with development and deployment of software on embedded hardware. Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and performant software modules. Good analytical and conceptual thinking (using logic reasoning, creative and strategic approaches). Understanding of core Computer Science algorithms and data structures. Qualification & Experience: Experience using GPU development toolkits like CUDA or OpenCL. Technical architectural knowledge of automotive infotainment systems or similar products. Experience using Test Automation frameworks. Experience using Machine Learning frameworks. Deep understanding of technical algorithms in the domain of connected car, autonomous service robotics and/or automotive head unit software development. 7+ years of experience on design, development and prototyping of software products with features like: Navigation, Robotics, Connected Car and/or similar technology. 5+ years’ experience in a collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment. Experience with taking early-stage ideas and turning them into demonstrable public showcases. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, EE, ME, Engineering or equivalent. Master's preferred.
