Job Description:

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager (Facilities) – To support and effectively deliver Capital works programmes including refurbishments projects within the Facilities and Property Team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the collection, development and maintenance of asset management/life cycle data, processes and systems
  • Embrace, endorse and ensure that the “Keeping Everybody Safe” safety culture is embedded in all tasks and is our number one priority within any Facilities, Project or Operational undertakings.
  • Project management of capital refurbishments across the UK portfolio as required, including scoping of works, tendering of works, completion of necessary business case, appointing the approved contractors, managing the timelines and financial control
  • Establish, develop, and maintain effective working relationships with all work colleagues, contractors, and business partners. Ensure effective communication and partnership with the Senior Operational leadership so all work is prioritised and carried out efficiently and effectively, and all issues are dealt with expediently and to the customers’ satisfaction.
  • Take responsibility for all project work under your control ensuring consistent levels of quality, statutory compliance, budgetary control and on time delivery.
  • Liaison with all stakeholders including; Local Authorities, Consultants and Landlords to ensure we meet all planning, building control and all other legislative/contractual requirements.
  • Help source new contractors to carry out refurbishment works, building successful relationships and ensuring “best value for money” from all our suppliers
  • Maintain adequate project records for all capital works projects, including sufficient information for producing performance management information. i.e. Tender documents, financial updates, Gantt charts, etc
  • Support the creation and monitoring of budget cost plans for all major works.
  • Maintain adequate records for all capital works, repairs and maintenance and servicing including enough information for producing performance management information.

Job Requirements:

  • Fully computer literate with extensive knowledge of Microsoft Project (or equivalent), Access, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Maintaining professional qualification and undertaking the required amount of continue professional development.
  • Experienced in multiple small/medium scale refurbishment/construction/including M&E elements projects circa £80k>£300k
  • Experience of working in project management projects in the education/childcare sector
  • Knowledge of Construction Contracts, Warranties and Insurance
  • Educated to degree level in a Building Surveying, Property Management, Quantity Surveying or Engineering discipline with practical experience of Quantity Surveying
  • Professional qualification and relevant membership of RICS, CIOB and/or evidence of working towards full membership.
  • Keeping up to date with building costs
  • Knowledge and understanding of planning system, consents, conditions etc
  • General knowledge of construction and relevant regulations, keeping updated with changes/ amendments to various regulations, codes,
  • Building Regulations and other legislation for the opening and operation of a nursery building
