Job Description:

The Walt Disney World Legal Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Associate Principal Counsel, Real Estate, to provide legal advice and legal transactional support to various departments and business units of the Walt Disney World Resort, primarily with respect to real estate transactions, leasing and other real estate related matters at the Walt Disney World Resort. This position reports to the Assistant Chief Counsel for the Walt Disney World Legal Department’s real estate group.

Provide legal support for the Walt Disney World Resort related to property sales and acquisitions, hotel, restaurant and retail leasing, real estate master planning, real estate development, legal support for development, operation and maintenance of RD&E complexes and ongoing maintenance of all real estate assets of the Walt Disney World Resort, including:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Advise the business teams on matters related to land use, zoning and entitlements;
  • Provide legal support and advice to Walt Disney World Resort real estate master planning group;
  • Manage outside counsel and outside counsel legal budgets;
  • Provide legal advice and act as a strategic thought partner throughout various stages of project planning, real estate acquisitions and real estate dispositions.
  • Negotiate and draft complex purchase and sale agreements, development and management agreements, infrastructure agreements, easement agreements, and various closing documents;
  • Draft and negotiate hotel, restaurant and retail leases, and lease amendments for various RD&E complexes at the Walt Disney World Resort;
  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of all commercial real estate sales and acquisitions including due diligence, title and survey review and closings;

  • Proven client relationship skills
  • Must be team-oriented and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a solution oriented approach to legal issues
  • Self-motivated, with outstanding interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate complex concepts and issues effectively with all levels of management
  • Ability to multi-task and work quickly and collaboratively under tight deadlines
  • Admission and good standing status in a state Bar association with the willingness and qualification to be Authorized House Counsel under Chapter 17, of the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar
  • Highly organized with ability to effectively manage outside counsel
  • Excellent negotiation, contract drafting, and communication skills are required
  • Ability to work independently, with some supervision, on complex transactions
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate risk and to exercise sound legal judgment
  • Ability to influence and provide support for other attorneys and paralegals in the real estate area
