Job Description: The person in this role, based in London, will be the lead news editor for ABC News Digital during the early morning hours through early afternoon, London time. (Overnight hours in New York). In addition to line editing responsibilities, this news editor will also be responsible for responding to stories that develop during the shift, working with Digital’s overnight reporter and overseas producers, writing/editing breaking news stories, and giving Digital a head start in its coverage for both international and U.S. domestic stories with a robust hand-off note. Job Responsibilities: Work with the newsgathering desk to determine what is reportable. Coordinate news coverage across different teams, including the Foreign Desk. Collaborate with reporters, producers, editors, bookers and correspondents to write/edit text stories for Digital. Make editorial judgments on a minute-to-minute basis. File breaking news stories when necessary. Job Requirements: Ability to balance priorities, multiple projects and tasks. Minimum 3 years’ experience editing for a digital news outlet. Willingness and desire to collaborate across different teams. Brings energy and positivity to the group dynamic. Familiarity with AP style. Proven experience handling breaking news.
