Job Description:

Ford’s Autonomous Vehicle (AV) Systems Safety Engineering team is responsible for developing technical direction, architecture and requirement specifications for the development of embedded AV systems related to the Autonomous Vehicle Platform (AVP). The team must analyze technologies and strategies for the AV platform and deliver system level safety requirements that ensure the vehicle can detect and mitigate hardware and software failures that can lead to a hazard. This is accomplished by developing technical safety requirements that support a robust design for E/E systems deployed on the vehicle.

Successful candidates will have the ability to collaborate in very dynamic environment and can handle a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities. Candidates will need to be effective communicators who are able to pull together various work-streams throughout the company in order to successfully deliver the product. You will:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Establish and supervise road map to deliver requirements
  • Become the specialist in the use of required COTS products
  • Assist in development of training material for architects and other users
  • Provide a regular cadence with partners for information sharing and capability demonstrations
  • Ensure partner input/feedback is incorporated into requirements
  • Support efforts of Architecture Management in driving and maintaining standards
  • Supervise and report roadmap status
  • Prepare presentation materials for the Architecture leadership team and other audiences
  • Business, Information, Application and Technology Architecture
  • Technology Lifecycle Management
  • Application Portfolio Management
  • Architecture Governance
  • Integration with other IT Systems
  • Develop strategy and requirements for systems that will implement Architecture processes, standards, methodologies and artifacts
  • Ensure internal and external partner requirements are gathered
  • Work with external suppliers to maximize/align COTS products “out of the box” capability to strategy
  • Communicate requirements to Product Team

Job Requirements:

  • 2+ years experience developing diagnostics, fault detection and fault mitigation strategies
  • 1+ years of experience developing Safety systems
  • Experience applying safety & reliability analysis (e.g. FMEA, DFMEA, DFMEDA, FTA, STPA, etc.).
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field
  • Experience with autonomous vehicles, driver assist features, and/or automated systems
  • Experience applying system safety approaches related to hardware, software, and system design
  • 3+ years experience developing electrical/electronic embedded systems including embedded software development and hardware circuit design
