As a Liability Claims Examiner, you are there for our customers when they need us most – after they have had a serious accident. Being involved in a car accident can be a traumatic experience for most people and it takes a very special kind of person to empathize with and assist our customers when they are worried, upset, sustained or have caused catastrophic injuries or even possibly death.

As a GEICO Liability Claim Examiner, you will investigate and handle a variety of claims ranging from minor fender-benders to major accidents resulting in injury claims that are soft tissue in nature. These claims involve liability disputes that often are not cut-and-dry and can be quite complex!

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide insurance information and make arrangements for repair of damage
  • Empathize and assist customers who have been involved in an auto accident
  • Investigate the nature and extent of injuries
  • Take recorded interviews over the phone
  • Investigate the facts of an accident that involves a liability dispute, review supporting documentation, determine who is at fault, and make decisions regarding claim payments and high-profile cases
  • Work with policyholders, claimants, doctor offices, medical insurers, auto repair shops, and often lawyers and law enforcement
  • Utilize our internal claims system to record, track and monitor insurance claims

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent computer and multi-tasking skills
  • 1 year of current/recent insurance industry experience to include evaluation of bodily injury claims
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to gather information and make decisions
  • High level of dependability
  • Excellent time management, organization, and computer skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or claims designations such as CPCU, INS, AIC, or Claims Law is preferred but not required
  • Coverage begins with the pay period after hire date. Must enroll in New Hire Benefits within 30 days of the date of hire for coverage to take effect.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Must currently hold an active Insurance License to Adjust Property & Casualty Claims
  • Demonstrated job stability
  • Benefits may be different by location. Benefit eligibility requirements vary and may include length of service.
