Job Description:

The GCB 4 Director, Sustainable Finance, Canada CMB – role reports to the Head of Sustainable Finance.
This is a high profile, strategic role, taking responsibility for contributing towards delivery of the sustainable finance sector strategy and growing income in the sector.
The role’s main responsibilities include leading conversations as a subject matter expert with clients and internal stakeholders on sustainable finance; originating, structuring, and executing sustainable finance business opportunities; producing quality industry content for clients and internal audiences; delivering insightful sector management information; and, working closely with numerous relationship, product and functional teams across Canada and globally.
The role holder will have client-facing responsibilities and will lead client transactions and pitches across the Canada CMB business, with interaction with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders at a senior level.

Job Responsibilities:

• Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators;
• Be a recognised subject matter expert for sustinable finance, offering support and guidance on structure and credit for relationship managers as well as process and policy;
• Identify marketing opportunities, undertaking appropriate analysis and preparation of proposals, presentations and pitches for new products and services;
• Proactive and frequent involvement in the external market place, acting as a senior ambassador for HSBC including networking with professionals, clients and prospective clients.
• Know, engage with and be the main point of contact for key stakeholders;
• Flexible work location within Canada
• Provide high quality industry sector, competitor and client level analysis to support business development, portfolio management and credit risk assessment;

Job Requirements:

• Ability to work on own initiative with minimum oversight to identify revenue and thought leadership opportunities
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills with experience of successfully influencing others, negotiating effectively and delivering quality presentations;
• Experience of product and proposition development and project management skills;
• Familiarity with Commercial Banking products and lending appetite;
• Knowledge and experience with sustainable finance
