The Lending & Limits Value Stream Architect will design and implement target state architectures across the commercial credit and lending landscape. This position will work closely with the business and technology teams locally in the US Wholesale organization, as well as managing stakeholder relationships in the wider HSBC Group. As a Value Stream Architect, this will involve a close partnership with the business and technology Value Stream Leads to influence, optimize and consult on ensuring the architecture helps to unlock business value. At times there will also be a need to consult with other Value Stream and Platform teams to design solutions within the wider systems architecture beyond the Lending domain, and at times this may involve collaboration across lines of business. This role works at the intersection of business and technology to define strategies that combine a deep understanding of business objectives, challenges with technology solutions and extending them into delivery execution, value realization and on-going product management.
Solving big, complex, and ambiguous problems is critical to the success of this role, along with the ability to provide timely guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge/skills areas needed to accomplish a task or solve a problem.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Managing barriers to potential technology solutions, intervening to resolve and unblocking team impediments
  • Responsible for ensuring technology solutions are cost effective and capable of realizing business goals
  • Lead on architecturally significant decisions to maintain pace and return on investment against agreed priorities, by being prepared to deep dive on application specific issues as well as holistic platform-wide challenges
  • Partnering with product management teams to ensure roadmaps are oriented to deliver strategy, value creation objectives, and measurable key performance indicators
  • Accountable for overall solution definition to support products, services and customer journeys in alignment with the appropriate roadmaps, group standards, policies and patterns
  • Technical leadership to multiple cross-functional teams, creating an atmosphere of confidence and accountable freedom in the team to deliver the solutions to realize program increment (PI) objectives
  • Managing alignment with group and local solution governance across multiple IT portfolios
  • Articulates and handles risks, assumptions, issues, decisions & dependencies (RAIDD) and enables light touch, effective delivery governance
  • Translates requirements into actionable designs and backlog items for development and implementation
  • Identifies and addresses opportunities for strategic enhancements and resolving technical debt
  • Delivers effective technical leadership across Value Stream and Development Pods through teamwork, supporting intentional & emergent design, identifying critical non-functional requirements, and design simplicity
  • Providing mentoring to teams to improve the quality of their technical capabilities and ways of working
  • Key participant in estimating and refining epics/features at PI planning, backlog refinement, and sprint planning
  • Proactively engage with stakeholders across portfolios and business lines to leverage support required to achieve business outcomes, find opportunities for synergies, and intervene to resolve potential barriers

Job Requirements:

  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certification is desirable
  • TOGAF certification is desirable
  • Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect certification is desirable
  • Multiple cloud certifications are desirable (e.g. AWS, Azure)
  • Experience within a large, complex and geographically dispersed organization with multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural diverse work environments
  • Flexible worker who demonstrates adaptability
  • 8-10 years of solution design, development, and/or IT operations experience
  • Proven track record in pragmatic architectural/technical design as well as solid software development experience
  • University-level degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Domain knowledge in Commercial Credit & Lending
  • Stakeholder management, especially impactful communication, influencing, and arbitration
  • Knowledge of Banking as a Service (BaaS) and Open Banking initiatives is desirable
