We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Head of Compliance Assurance Australia.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide subject matter expertise to and coach the immediate team, in the identification of appropriate review scope and delivery of assurance activities.
- Execute the global CA strategy in-country to assess the risks and effectiveness of controls in the first and second lines of defence.
- This is a senior role within Compliance Assurance (CA) which provides assurance activities over regulatory compliance (RC) and financial crime (FC) risks in all Global Businesses and Functions.
- Drive team deliverables ensuring they are achieved accurately, consistently and to a high standard of quality and completeness.
- Escalate significant control deficiencies in a timely manner.
- Proactively monitor and identify key in-country emerging risks and/or trends across all Businesses/ Functions to ensure ongoing development of the assurance programme to address them.
- Lead the team, ensuring that all relevant standards, policies, procedures remain fit for purpose and subject to continuous assessment.
- The role contributes to the global standardised CA approach ensuring that it is aligned to the bank’s Risk Management Framework (RMF). The role holder is responsible for driving and contributing to the delivery of end-to-end assurance work over RC and FC risks and controls. They are a subject matter expert on adequately assessing the effectiveness of risk management activities to meet industry standards, country regulatory obligations and bank policy.
- Inform Risk Owners, Control Owners and Risk Stewards of the design and operational effectiveness of the controls within their area of oversight and control.
Job Requirements:
- Excellent communication skills with very strong inter-personal and influencing skills
- Proven leader with experience in driving a local team that is part of a large complex function located in multiple jurisdictions
- Capable of building positive and resilient partnerships with key senior stakeholders
- Relevant external financial services qualification
- Extensive RC and/ or FC knowledge, with extensive experience in assurance or testing activities
- Track record of working autonomously
- Strong decision-making capability
- Clear understanding of regulatory and financial crime compliance risk within the global financial services industry.
- Excellent people manager with proven people management capabilities
- Lateral thinker with an ability to interpret and solve complex issues
