Job Description:
In this role you will be responsible for purchasing goods for distribution and commodities for manufacturing to be resold through a Distribution Center to individual retail and wholesale stores. This includes commodities, packaging, beverages, icings and fillings (ready to use), equipment, uniforms, and other supply items. Commodities consist of sugar, vegetable oils, and flour. The overall strategy will be to maintain constant supply internationally without experiencing large unfavorable pricing changes, while looking for all opportunities to reduce inventory investment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Delivery to support the company’s business model, strategies, and financial operating plans.
- Function as the supply management partner for the Business Units (BUs), responsible for sourcing, procurement processes, systems, and results across the global enterprise.
- The Chief Procurement Officer will lead a team of professionals in matrix environment.
- This responsibility includes strategic vision, operational planning, and execution.
- Drive, where possible, sourcing and procurement activities from a global perspective maximizing leverage and overall effectiveness of supply.
- Responsible for strategy development and implementation, common process definition and deployment, procurement organizational development and leadership.
- The Chief Procurement Officer will continue the Company’s evolution in best practice procurement capabilities and organizational development, transforming the organization from one that is locally driven to one with a center-led, global construct.
- Where local requirements dominate for practical reasons, the Chief Procurement Officer will establish category “Centers of Excellence” to assist the various BUs and regions in applying best practices locally. Due to the complexity and diversity of the Company’s business, multiple matrix structures are in place and must be operated within effectively.
- The Chief Procurement Officer will lead the Global Procurement organization across the enterprise, including all business units and regions for direct and indirect sourcing and procurement.
- Directly responsible for material deflation, indirect savings and supplier development and performance, including quality and lead time reliability.
Job Requirements:
- Strong communications and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate administrative, strategic, analytical and technical skills
- Understanding of accounting and cost principles and working knowledge of all business-related processes (e.g. Operations, Logistics, Finances,
- Information Systems, Human Resources, etc.).
- Computer proficiency use/knowledge.
- 10 plus years of purchasing experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in business required, advance degree preferred
- In-depth knowledge of “the industry, the product and the commercial aspects” of the business
