Loblaws Job Application – DevOps Lead

Job Description:

We’re looking for an eager, solution-oriented Technical Lead that will work in a team environment to provide technical expertise developing, maintaining and implementing modern software solutions with leading edge open source tools and platforms for on-premise and cloud applications. They will be responsible for co-leading a team of product and engineering resources to understand and describe technical architecture changes, describe solution components, and provide both strategic oversight and tactical implementation support.

Job Responsibilities:

• Hold regular technical team meetings to determine progress and address any questions or challenges regarding projects
• Update and maintain all production technologies ensuring proper maintenance and installation
• Determine and define clear deliverables, roles and responsibilities for staff members required for specific projects or initiatives
• Research and evaluate hardware and software technology options and weigh the cost/benefit analysis when making large purchases on behalf of the company
• Analyze, plan and develop requirements and standards in reference to scheduled projects and initiatives as per agile practices
• Co-lead an agile team with Delivery and Product leads
• Recruit and train exceptional employees to fill posted positions within the technical department
• Work closely with leads in architecture, network, and security groups to establish patterns and ensure compliance with governance
• Assign and oversee the daily tasks of technical personnel while ensuring all engineers/developers are actively working toward established milestones

Job Requirements:

• Managerial experience applying analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Strong sense of personal accountability regarding decision-making and supervising teams
• Provincial eHealth system integration experience a plus
• Experience with PaaS solutions such as Pivotal Cloud Foundry, OpenShift, or similar
• Direct experience with agile ceremonies, strategies and methods
• Excellent time management and organizational skills and experience establishing guidelines in these areas for others
• Experience working in a high-level collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality
• NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis, Firebase, etc.) database experience beneficial
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or Kubernetes-based platforms
• Knowledge of Modern DevOps principles and exposure to as code approaches
• Ability to predict challenges and seek to proactively head-off obstacles
