Job Description:

Under general direction and guidance, supports, coordinates and/or performs activities that evaluate clinical efficacy of Mary Kay Inc products, ingredients and technologies prior to market launch. Responsible for independently delivering on a range of activities, such as literature and background reviews, in lab testing, study design, drafting technical reports and summaries, and project management. Has a deepening understanding of clinical/skin science, and clinical testing. Communicates effectively with peers, management, and external laboratory and consulting partners. Communicates effectively with coworkers in international markets when needed.

Job Responsibilities:

• Applies standard practices and techniques in clinical testing (in vivo) to substantiate the clinical efficacy of ingredients, products and other items marketed by Mary Kay Inc. This includes coordinating, designing and executing clinical studies done internally and externally. Independently reports project status to supervisor and R&D/Corp partners. Proactively seeks consultation with supervisor on non-standard or new technical issues. Expected to give recommendations/resolve problems of moderate difficulty in their direct project work. Provides informal guidance and coaching for junior technical staff.
• Actively designs and looks for improved ways to run clinical studies to assess the efficacy of products and/or ingredients. Troubleshoots to improve existing testing methods. Independently compiles data, analyzes and interprets results, writes and/or reviews reports, and proactively communicates study results to other R&D partners. Works independently to influence project decisions.
• Executes routine tasks/responsibilities following designated protocols, such as clinical testing protocols and system approvals, written reports and executive summaries for efficacy of ingredients/products in preparation for regulatory support of products. Partners with Products Research Organization, Product Safety, Product Formulation, and Regulatory to resolve items of moderate complexity.
• Participates in activities and projects to support overall department/R&D goals, such as continuous improvement projects or lab/site safety with moderate complexity. Makes continuous improvement recommendations. Responsible for implementing internal department continuous improvement initiatives.
• Works under general direction on moderately complex specialized projects/initiatives. This may include assisting with lab maintenance and upkeep as well as supporting projects for novel testing/clamis methodologies and upstream innovation.

Job Requirements:

• Must have ability to apply standard scientific principles and make sound scientific judgments within scope of role.
• Must have a deep understanding of clinical lab practices and skin science.
• Must be able to manage multiple projects with general guidance from supervisor.
• Must have working proficiency in technical writing and communication, including oral presentations and reports. Communicates effectively with peers, external departments, and management.
