We are looking to add to our dynamic team and this is a great opportunity to work at one of the most valuable and iconic brands in the world. You will be part of the team responsible for fulfilling the fiduciary responsibilities for McDonald’s UK and Ireland, reporting accurately on our numbers. The team does more than just focus on the numbers, and are responsible for ensuring that we’re appropriately challenging our business decisions, ensuring we have the right controls, ensure that we understand the accounting impact of large scale business transactions and then telling the story behind the numbers to the appropriate partners.
The remit is broad, touching on many different aspects of the business. This involves working closely with both Finance and non-Finance senior management, internal and external auditors to ensure our numbers are accurate.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with the US Corporate Controller Group to understand any accounting issues
  • Management of our balance sheet along with all associated controls
  • Participate on cross-functional teams as assigned by the VP/Chief Financial Officer/GBS Leadership
  • Working with the wider Finance team to understand accounting for complex restaurant transactions across the business
  • Responsibility for all internal and SOX controls, leading a cross-functional effort to ensure our controls environment is robust and business risk is minimised
  • Drive Continuous Improvement and automation projects
  • Responsibility for the relationships with both internal and external auditors
  • You will have responsibility for the accuracy and delivery of regulatory and statutory reporting of all our UK entities under UK GAAP
  • You will oversee the production of accurate monthly, quarterly and annual UK market results under US GAAP for internal and Global reporting
  • Collaborate on the design and implementation of global finance system projects in UK & Ireland
  • Act as a mentor, coach and manager for a team of robust individuals, creating development plans for each

Job Requirements:

  • ACA or ACCA (or equivalent qualification)
  • A track record of being able to translate problems into clear, achievable solutions for your team – delegating in a fast-paced environment
  • A desire to invest in talent development, developing our leaders of the future
  • Extensive technical accounting experience in UK GAAP (US GAAP would be beneficial)
  • 3+ years post qualified experience
  • Practice experience essential
