Job Description:
The Media Planning Director acts as the day-to-day liaison between the client and media community providing leadership, strategic direction and input for media plans. You will effectively leverage experience, knowledge of the client’s business and media skills to push innovative thinking and set challenging team goals and objectives, balancing client, company, and team needs and priorities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Generate ideas and articulate “the big picture” above and beyond the detail level
- Direct, develop/oversee planning objectives and strategies that coincide with the client’s marketing direction
- Continually seek a consumer-centric view in all strategic thinking
- Lead all media planning and buying aspects of assigned account(s)
- Achieve the financial goals of the account by managing costs, revenue, and scope of work in accordance with client contract
- Monitor client programs and day-to-day business activity
- Maintain highly visible presence with client senior management
- Build/maintain effective working relationships internally and with client, media vendors, and GroupM teams
- Gauge media performance to determine the extent to which the original objectives and strategies were met
- Provide POV on various media in the marketplace
- Ensure all client materials/correspondence are on strategy and of the highest quality, representing the strength of ideas that MediaCom
- Interaction has to offer
- Lead and direct all core partners as part of the entire client solution, including TV, social search, mobile, print, OOH, and other emerging platforms, as well as creative/content development where appropriate
- Oversee the flow of client media-related issues; create solutions and resolve problems
Job Requirements:
- Fluent in mathematical concepts with an ability to translate data into well-articulated ideas
- Understanding of the principles of marketing and advertising, as well as media concepts and terms, creative and budget requirements
- Superior organizational, interpersonal, and managerial skills
- Able to understand media data sources in terms of what is measured, the method, and information reported
- Complete knowledge of all aspects of media
- Solid understanding of interactive research tools such as Ad Relevance, @plan, and Media Metrix
- 10+ years of directly related media experience
- Must possess strong written, presentation, analytical, quantitative, and verbal skills
- Must have a proven record of success managing full service accounts
- Detailed awareness of client business issues, industry trends, consumer trends, promotional resources, market status, and competition
