Job Description:

MoJ Property provides specialist services including facilities management, health and safety, fire safety and security, technical design expertise, and sustainability. We also have business management teams who support the entire Directorate and each of our partners is supported by account management teams. We are responsible for a great deal – our portfolio consists of properties valued at £8.5bn for the MoJ alone. We are part of the Government Property Profession (GPP) and through active membership and engagement we will work with the Office of Government Property to develop the maturity of the profession and also encourage our people to join the GPP. We continue to build our capability through training and recruitment, aspiring to be the best that we can be as individuals and as a directorate.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Property information is maintained, including e-PIMS, backlog maintenance, courtroom audit, benchmarking etc. Provision of advice on strategy and property investment..
  • Act as Front of House meeting and greeting Judges, their guests and clerks, serving at table and making sure the rooms are serviced.
  • Answer the telephone and deal with any queries where possible, take messages and pass these on to the appropriate person
  • Liaise with the Judge in conjunction with the Chef about dinner or lunch parties regarding menus and timings
  • Management of Judges’ Lodgings including budgets, HR, Licence negotiations and benchmarking.
  • Monitor the standard of linen etc from the laundry or in house washing ensuring sufficient stock levels are available.
  • Ensure that the Judges personnel laundry is processed efficiently in house and within a reasonable time
  • Responsibility for accommodation standards, including DDA compliance.
  • Advising on property investment decisions.
  • Co-ordination of property valuations and rating.
  • Ordering supplies ensuring VFM with the Chef and monitor their use (washing up liquid, toilets cleaner etc)
  • Responsibility for new acquisitions and freehold disposals providing professional advice (including Landlord & Tenant) as required. Ensure that integration opportunities are taken to rationalise the estate.
  • Liaise with the Chef about the number of Judges, Clerks and guests to be in residence, arrival times and anticipated length of stay
  • All purchases made with the GPC card to be accurately accounted for and within SFA.
  • Ensuring that the Lodgings cleanliness is maintained to the highest standards at all times
  • Work (as many hours as is necessary) “All Hours” to ensure the effective running of the house whilst the Judge is in residence
  • Management of our legal service contracts, including deed management. Ensuring compliance with GPU controls.

Job Requirements:

  • Negotiation and diplomacy skills to challenge the customer on their requirements where appropriate and justify decisions. Experience of managing a variety of stakeholders, demonstrate the ability to mitigate between different agendas, resolve conflict and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the organisation’s values and behaviours, equal opportunities and diversity, service regulatory frameworks and requirements, responsibilities under Health and Safety, risk management and security, and protection of information
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Application of, and commitment to using a personal skill set that incorporates the corporate services principles and improves the effectiveness and delivery of a quality estate service.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills together with the ability to represent the Judges Lodgings in a professional and consistently competent manner.
  • Hospitality Experience
  • Tenacity and drive, with a proven ability to resolve problems swiftly and deftly. Ability to exercise significant judgement to analyse situations and develop new approaches, factoring in awareness of the estates strategy, and a thorough understanding of the relevant organisation’s strategy.
  • Level 2 award in food safety in catering
