NPTC York is Nestlé’s leading centre for confectionery Research & Development, working in partnership with 3 development centres in Chile, China and Ivory Coast. In York we are a team of 170 amazing people from over 30 nationalities from a variety of academia. We support 50 factories globally and our objective is to provide ideas, technical innovation and scientific support (for product, process and technology) to improve and grow our confectionery business.

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Manufacturing Senior Specialist to work as part of our global Confectionery Technical Competency Unit (TCU) based at our offices in York. This role is a pivotal to supporting the development of R&D projects as well as being a lighthouse for identifying technology improvements across R&D and our suppliers for all our factories, future proofing what we do. Playing a lead across the operational network to provide knowledge and expertise that develop manufacturing capability across all our markets globally. This is a broad and exciting role that will see you work with many stakeholders internally and externally across the world, supporting our manufacturing efforts to develop and deliver best in class confectionery products that consumers will love.

Job Responsibilities:

This role will see you generate and deploy manufacturing solutions that deliver added value and return on investment for the business, our customers and our consumers. You will also provide recommendations and guidance across Markets and to our Confectionary Strategic Business Unit in Switzerland to drive operational standards and projects at pace. Other key responsibilities include:

  • Work in collaboration with factories, suppliers and various other functions on the continual development of manufacturing best practice and solutions.
  • Understand and lead project requirements, resources and deliverables to achieve a smooth start-up of lines across factories.
  • Lead and enhance the manufacturing expert network for category manufacturing technology, acting as the expert support for markets and senior stakeholders.
  • Continually develop stakeholders knowledge through identifying gaps and implementing training programs that enhance our peoples capability.
  • We are looking for you to show real leadership and coaching skills working across a range of diverse stakeholders.
  • Lead the manufacturing elements for the innovation and renovation roadmap ensuring the successful integration across operations.
  • Providing technical assistance to support performance improvements and benchmarking across confectionery factories worldwide.

Job Requirements:

  • Have proven leadership skills to inspire and develop a wider range of people across different levels enabling them to be the best that they can be.
  • Have an enhanced understanding of factory operational set ups and a working knowledge of factory systems (SAP, PowerBI, DMO etc).
  • Have extensive operational experience within an FMCG or R&D environment.
  • Mobility, as you are likely to support international projects where there will be ad-hoc requirement to travel.
  • An ability of communicating complex information effectively to stakeholders outside of the R&D space which instils credibility and trust.
  • Have experience of developing and implementing manufacturing innovation and solutions at scale.
