Job Description:
Leading a Technology Programme or Portfolio of activity
Taking full lifecycle & end to end accountability for the realisation of outcomes enabled by technology change within the Royal Mail Group Technology function
Job Responsibilities:
- Effective recruitment to add high calibre resources to the team
- Develop key relationships with support functions including Cyber Security, Service Management, Architecture and Test, Data and Engineering, Procurement and Legal
- Develop key relationships with senior business stakeholders to maintain an alignment of objectives and establish a constructive channel for speedy decisions
- Deputise for the Portfolio/Programme Director as required
- Team management & development to increase capability levels:
- Responsible for up to 100 matrix reports in addition to supplier resources
- Initiate and implement a programme / portfolio end to end and manage the tranches / phases / sub projects, establishing full lifecycle conditions for Project and Senior Project Managers to deliver to their obligations
- Establish value for Royal Mail and secure commercial advantage when working with suppliers
- Line management responsibility
- Lead in the securing of investment through provision of estimates to support Business Cases, including resources, time, costs, risks, issues, dependencies and assumptions. Authority up to £10m p.a
- Establish the conditions for Project and Senior Project managers to deliver to their obligations
- Align to functional and corporate strategies, establishing traceability between Technology outputs, business or Technology roadmaps and targeted outcomes/benefits
Job Requirements:
- Tenacious problem solver with innovative and creative thinking who escalates by exception when appropriate
- Excellent financial management & commercial focus to deliver value-based outcomes
- Demonstrable experience of leading large Projects or experience of successfully delivering strategic Programmes or Portfolios including the realisation of
- outcomes and benefits
- Strategic mindset with a strong focus on the target state
- Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) qualification; SAFE or appropriate level of experience and prepared to work towards formal qualifications
- Autonomous operator but able to operate as part of a team
- Excellent leadership skills – a known and proven inspirational and motivational leader, able to unite a team including suppliers to deliver against a common vision
- Customer focus to target improvements and efficiencies that directly benefit Royal Mail customers
- Excellent verbal and written communicator to a broad audience up to and including executive Board Members
