Job Description:

Our Fuel Management Analyst supports the Sr. Manager of Fuel Supply by maintaining the Fuel Management System to ensure Spirit only pays for fuel and services used. This includes assisting in providing analysis during the annual fuel bid.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain relationships with suppliers, transportation companies, storage operators, into plane operators and airports, through ethical behavior and regular communication.
  • Keep vendor and airport fuel supply operator contact information up to date
  • Work with other Spirit departments (Tax, Treasury, Accounts Payable, Airport Services, Finance, OCC etc.) as needed to support Fuel Management and Company objectives
  • Perform market research and analyze competitors to gauge opportunities to reduce fuel costs.
  • Knowledge of pipeline and truck scheduling is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of jet fuel pricing (ie Platts, Argus, OPIS) is considered an asset
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate.
  • Maintain and update the Fuel Management System including prices, terms, volume and fees so that invoices pay within terms. Assist the Tax department to ensure their sales and excise taxes are current in the System.
  • Review fuel and fuel related invoices to ensure costs, taxes and fees are correct and that gallons/flights/period costs match Spirit’s actual usage. Seek timely and full correction of any discrepancies. Forward correct invoices to Manager of Fuel Supply for payment within terms.
  • Reconcile into-plane and consortium monthly billings to ensure accuracy and process for payment after corrections are made.
  • Assist in preparing Fuel Management usage reports, cost summaries and projections.
  • Assist in the annual fuel bid analysis to secure competitively priced fuel at locations we serve through strategic sourcing, purchasing and contract management.

Job Requirements:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Efficient and accurate data entry skills
  • High proficiency in MS Office; specifically MS Excel ability (vlookups, pivot tables, formulas, data formatting)
  • Ability to organize, analyze and report on data to provide meaningful and actionable operational information
  • Problem solving skills, results driven, and action-oriented
  • A self-starter who has the ability to work independently; and within a team
  • Experience performing varied administrative tasks with an attention to detail
  • Domestic & International travel under 10% of time
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years’ experience in similar field
  • Post secondary degree/diploma in Business, Economics, or Math a Plus
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in roles with emphasis on analytics and reporting preferred
  • Frequently stands, walks, sits, and uses eye/hand coordination
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull 10 pounds regularly
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong client focus and interpersonal skills
