Job Description:
The Sr. Solutions Architect is responsible for establishing the overall technical vision across product domains, while ensuring that solutions successfully integrate with IT infrastructure, architecture, and process standards in alignment with mission, industry and federal and best practices. Provides support in driving technology and architecture solutions by weighing the advantages of technology standards, market availability of products, and risks and benefits of technology introduction into computing environments. Develops technology architecture requirements, conducts architecture risk assessments, designs solutions, and evaluates system architectures. Comprehend business strategies and requirements and develop necessary designs and plans to ensure projects and solutions satisfy those needs. Serves as TVA’s recognized industry expert on solutions architecture, DevSecOps architecture, software architecture, automation architecture, cloud architecture, mobile architecture and/or integration architecture for the enterprise. Develops standards and guidelines for preferred technology, design, data and process elements and consults with teams to help them conform to architectural principles.
Job Responsibilities:
- Consistently monitor the scope of projects and collaborate with product managers and project team members to develop timelines for solutions.
- Researches and maintains knowledge in emerging technologies and provides recommendations for how they are applicable to the business.
- Create and maintain strong partnerships and effective communication across IT business units to offer technical input to technology roadmaps and to ensure synergy and consistency across solutions. Act as a technical lead and communicate effectively to apply TVA’s goals and objectives to advance and maintain enterprise standard architecture
- Provides governance and oversight over the creation and maintenance of implementation guides, working prototypes, and reusable source code.
- Possess a deep understanding of business outcomes, capabilities, value streams and processes and how they are linked to the portfolio of solutions (including projects, products, services and other systems)
- Conduct meetings with internal/external customers to differentiate between functional and technical requirements in order to support strategy and engagement in enlisting business unit functional expertise to successfully define and solidify functional solution requirements; oversee development of technical requirements based on functional requirements.
- Works closely with and provides guidance to other solutions architects, to the project management office, product managers, product owners, technical architects and the development teams throughout the product life cycle to ensure standards, quality and security are considered throughout the lifecycle.
- Ensures solutions are compliant with standards and policies applicable across all product domains.
- Translates business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to achieve business objectives and documents all solution architecture design and analysis work.
- Creates architectural designs to guide and contextualize solution development across products, services, projects and systems (including applications, technologies, processes and information).
- Leads evaluation, design and analysis for the implementation of a solutions architecture across a group of specific business applications or technologies, based on enterprise business strategies, business capabilities, value streams, business requirements and enterprise standards.
- Evaluates a team’s operational health in order to identify opportunity for improvements, and help these teams mature their practices and more effectively embrace a DevSecOps, Agile, and Product mindset.
- Understands and ensures adherence to the attributes and processes of current application development methodologies and both enforces and measures standards adoption.
- Act as a contributing member of the project team from project inception to completion by providing advice and directing decisions about which technologies would be suitable to use for various projects
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in at least two IT solution development disciplines, including technical or infrastructure architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or cloud development.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure application, network, and security architecture preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of policies and IT requirements.
- Analytical and problem solving abilities with keen attention to details.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of continuous integration/continuous development (CI/CD), Agile development, and Lean management methodology.
- Ability to lead and influence teams in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment while dealing diplomatically with internal and external partners.
- Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance or additional screening based on position / access requirements and essential job functions.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), Engineering or a related or other technical/scientific discipline.
