Univision Careers – Technical Director

Job Description:

• Univision is seeking a talented Technical Director based in Miami, FL, for fast-paced shows.

Job Responsibilities:

• Build and organize switcher effects, transitions, and specialty wipes.
• Collaborate closely with producers and production staff in the preparation of rundowns and coordination of graphics.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Work with Engineering to ensure that all equipment is operating properly.
• Apply technical expertise to resolve technical issues that arise in the control room and studio.
• Operate Grass Valley Kayenne production switcher.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Crew leader who works with technical and production staff to satisfy production needs for live and taped shows under the supervision of Show Director & Operations management.
• Manage and lead the technical crew during shift.

Job Requirements:

• Must be willing to work from office in Miami, FL
• Employment/education will be verified
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, type, and sit for up to (8) hours

Qualification & Experience:

• Ability to travel as required
• Must have a working knowledge of control room workflows and an understanding of basic audio, graphics, and server playouts.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in Television Production, Communications, or related field.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with Windows operating systems and knowledge of iNEWS and Microsoft
• Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• As this position supports 24×7 operation, candidates must, in addition to being able to work regular hours, have on-call availability, and flexibility to workdays, nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays as needed and without advance notice.
• Additionally, candidates may be required to work on-site for extended periods of time to provide coverage in special circumstances, such as, during tropical storm/hurricane.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as Technical Director of live shows.
