Job Description:

Under direct supervision, the Associate Accounting Coordinator analyzes and records secondary cost transactions and processes approved cost items for timely payment. Coordinates with scheduling, marketing and external vendors to ensure proper recording/classification of transactions and resolves issues related to open item aging of general ledger accounts.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with special projects for management or other operational areas as needed.
  • Coordinate and work with scheduling, marketing and external vendors to ensure proper recording/classification of transactions and to resolve issues related to open item agings of assigned general ledger accounts.
  • Assist with variance analysis for assigned account groups to identify issues and make adjustments as needed.
  • Perform month-end close duties to ensure accurate financial reporting (e.g., secondary cost accruals, profit center reclasses, etc.).
  • Process basic secondary cost items for timely payment.
  • Record journal entries, perform reconciliations, and make adjustments and/or corrections as necessary.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to work with others to accomplish challenging assignments.
  • Ability to coordinate with various departments and outside customers and vendors in a timely manner.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments to ensure completion of tasks within stated time requirements.
  • Advanced skill using Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word and Excel).
  • Basic understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, theories, and ability to apply them to the Corporation’s accounting needs.
  • Ability to read and interpret company policies, regulatory guidelines, and other work-related documentation.
  • Refinery Industry or related experience
  • Basic understanding of contract terms and their application.
  • Ability to abide by confidentiality requirements when working with sensitive information, results, and communications.
  • 1 year of Accounting experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal methods.
  • Skill in providing thorough, efficient, and effective customer service to individuals at all levels within the organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or higher level degree, in Accounting
  • Ability to cross-train in other department duties to ensure efficient coverage of department responsibilities.
  • Ability to accomplish work within required timelines, including short, long, and emergency timeframes.
  • Working knowledge of SAP preferred.
