Job Description:

The Technical Writer is a foundational and high-profile role that places you at the helm of the Volkswagen Automotive Cloud developer experience and the advocate for the wider developer community. The ideal candidate is an expert communicator, passionate about building and sharing knowledge with developers, and can dive into code at a moment’s notice.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work cross-functionally with customers, marketing, customer success, and engineering to make data-driven decisions around improvements to our documentation
  • Drive cohesiveness between our documentation and our API Platform
  • Create a polished and delightful docs experience for developers who are integrating with the Volkswagen Automotive Cloud (VW.AC) platform
  • Craft a consistent voice and style across our documentation
  • Own the strategy and execution of all VW.AC documentation, including API Reference, Guides, Sample Code, Release Notes, Sample Apps, and SDKs
  • Build sample applications, demos, and code tutorials that closely match our target customer use cases and work with Marketing to share the source code through various channels

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments and adapt quickly
  • Anticipate and mitigate risks, manage, and resolve issues
  • Ability to work with aggressive deadlines and tailor deliverables accordingly
  • Effectively work across multiple business units, matrixed environments in influencing and establishing design principals, standards, policies, and coordinating the delivery of multiple projects
  • Experience collaborating with architecture and engineering to create diagrams and figures in technical artifacts
  • Self-motivation, proven self-organization techniques, and ability to stay focused amid distraction
  • Experience authoring, reviewing, and editing HTML, CSS, and markdown files
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to demonstrate concepts to Product Management, Program Management and Business Leaders
  • Experience authoring and maintaining technical documentation of cloud software, web applications, APIs, and SDKs
  • Experience with JSON Schema, OpenAPI specification, and API documentation generation tools such as Swagger or Redoc.ly
  • Familiarity with version control and software development lifecycles
  • Ability to work effectively on several projects simultaneously, independently, and within groups
  • Experience crafting release notes for external consumption from internal artifacts
