Job Description:

Create, design, schedule and reconcile electric, gas services and protective lighting, with a focus on opportunities for joint trench installation. Provide interface between Designers, locating, construction resources and Xcel customers to ensure work is scoped and designed for construction resources to install based on customer driven expectations. This includes new electric, gas service installations, night watches and customer upgrades. May be expected to assist as needed after normal business hours during emergency situations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Determine when necessary permit required and prepare agreements, contracts and permits for State, City, County and railroads. Distribute to proper authorities and internal resources.
  • Responsible for billing customers in accordance with AI’s. This includes billing, collection and preparation of sundry receipts for money’s received from customers on agreements.
  • Responsible for accurate information reflecting all of Xcel Energy’s involvement or requirements in systems such as ServConn, CRS, Passport, GIS SmallWorld, and Work Management and other systems as required.
  • Coordinate and/or schedule electric and gas service installations between construction resources, locating, government agencies, other utilities and Xcel customers to provide timely completion of work in order to meet customers requirements based.
  • Customer contact point for scheduling, construction procedures, joint trench practices, administering A.I. charges and explaining company policies to customers. Advise and answer general inquires regarding job status which directly affects Xcel Energy’s customer service focus.
  • Design services and protective lighting to meet Xcel construction standards, and reconcile projects. Keep status updated on all work using appropriate Xcel computer systems. Occasional site visits with customers to assure Xcel requirements are met.

Job Requirements:

  • PC based computer skills. Working knowledge of Xcel’s operating systems, ServConn, CRS, Passport, GIS SmallWorld, and other systems as required
  • Training in Basic Electricity/Gas and Customer Service very desirable
  • Highly effective communication and innovative problem solving skills
  • Self starter, able to work with minimal supervision
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3 years experience with electric and/or gas operations and customer service or equivalent
  • Customer service experience in a high demand environment
  • Working knowledge of Xcel Energy’s design standards and construction practices, and corporate policies
