Job Description:

As a Manager/Consultant, you’ll be a resource assigned to perform a specific activity supporting an approved corporate program or project for a limited period of time. The hiring manager will create job expectations for each project position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides “project basis staffing” and is temporarily assigned to perform a specific activity in support of an approved corporate project. The assignment is typically two years or less. Project staffing allows management a greater level of flexibility in selecting an incumbent with the needed level of expertise. Because of the temporary status of the project job, the need for specific skills and a fair administration of compensation, the project jobs are staffed on a lateral basis (i.e. the incumbent remains on the same salary grade held before project participation).
  • Fulfills a short-term or long-term assignment, typically four months or less or two years or less, respectively. Does not involve a permanent transfer. For short-term assignments, salary is administered as normal and the associate’s previous position would typically be held open. A long-term project assignment could involve relocation, and the associate’s previous position would be re-staffed or eliminated. Qualified associates will typically be provided 60 calendar days to search for a new position at the conclusion of their project assignment and will be assisted by Human Resources.
  • Demonstrates satisfactory performance of project work. Performance evaluations will be conducted as they would on any job as appropriate. The success of securing a position is contingent upon prior related work experience, satisfactory performance on the project and the availability of open positions matching skills and experience. The associate is expected to compete for positions with other Nationwide associates and/or external applicants. There is no guarantee that the associate leaving the project will secure another position.

Job Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
  • Three to five years of related property claims experience.
  • Experience in a customer service environment, including flexible work schedules and extended work hours preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the investigation, consultation and settlement activities used to resolve extensive property damage claims.
  • Proven ability to meet customer needs and provide exemplary meaningful service by guiding customers through the claims process and ensuring a positive customer experience.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills necessary to make decisions and resolve issues related to application of coverages to submitted claims, application of laws of jurisdiction to investigation facts, and application of policy exclusions and exceptions.
  • Ability to establish repair requirements and cost estimates for property losses.
  • Ability to evaluate and successfully advise on property claims.
  • Organizational skills to prioritize work.
  • Command of written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with policyholders, claimants, repairpersons, attorneys, agents and the general public.
  • Ability to efficiently operate a personal computer and related claims and business software.
  • State licensing where required.
  • Successful completion of required/applicable claims certification training/classes.
