Job Description:
The Franchising Development Manager facilitates and drives the Market Plan strategy by creating growth opportunities for DBI by selling new Store Development Agreements (SDA) to qualified new and existing franchisees, maximizing existing stores, and contributing to ensuring achievement of the Market’s fiscal and development targets. The incumbent will support new development, provide financial expertise, and work with the development and operations teams to ensure sound business judgment for the deployment of corporate capital. Incumbent will lead the market team’s review and recommendation regarding franchise transfer opportunities. He/she will also be responsible for sourcing and selecting qualified franchise partners who are capable of developing and executing a business opportunity to deliver the DBI brand promise to the consumer. This person will be responsible for the following territories: MD, PA, VA, and NC.
Job Responsibilities:
- Identifies, targets and recruits franchise candidates within assigned markets through local advertising, sales flyers/brochures, open houses, industry groups, direct mail, trade shows, etc.
- Designs approved franchise recruiting plan to generate sufficient leads, and executes a business/recruitment plan to sell Franchise Agreements and Store Development Agreements to new and/or existing franchisees as required by the applicable Strategic Growth Plan
- Identifies roadblocks to achieving annual targets and take effective action to deliver agreed upon targets
- Collaborates and communicates with colleagues maintaining consistency in the quality, integrity, and development of franchisees, SDAs, and quality standards; build “sales” best practices into core processes
- Improves personal competencies supporting the achievement of Strategic Growth targets associated with Franchising. Through excellence of execution and adherence to established processes and procedures in attracting and signing new franchisees and granting of SDAs, this role will positively impact the image and equity of DBI’s brands thus enhancing their value to current and prospective franchisees and investors
- Ensures that all legal, policy, regulatory and other franchising requirements are met and done so in a timely manner. Review and understand all legal documents, policies, procedures, regulations and manuals as required
- Develop and cultivates strong relationships with internal and external business partners and leverage those relationships when needed
- Partner with regional Market Teams to develop franchise recruitment plan which includes, but is not limited to attending trade shows, conventions, seminars.
- Successfully creates lead generation through prospecting efforts, franchise broker relationships, and other means
- Works with development and operations teams to successfully analyze, promote and sell corporate developed stores
- Provides guidance to prospective franchisees in preparing a comprehensive Business Plan that will demonstrate the franchisee candidate’s capacity to build and run great restaurants
- Ensures business / financial terms of transfers are properly reviewed and documented and that all opportunities for operational improvements, additional development, short-term income and potential long-term annuity are realized
- Assists in the management of our real estate portfolio, ensuring the protection and growth of our corporate rental annuity stream
Job Requirements:
- 2 to 5 years’ experience in quality assurance or related food industry experience, coffee experience preferred
- Proficient to the Quality Managers satisfaction in all analytical techniques required for the verification of product compliance to performance and technical specifications
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or related field
- Working knowledge of Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), ISO Standards, Food and
- Drug Administration (FDA) Model Food Code, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Statistical Process Control and general microbiology
- General knowledge of food safety principles, FDA Food Code and Code of Federal Regulations
