Job Description:

  • Position is primarily responsible for supporting the SEC Reporting group with quarterly/annual filings for the Company’s Forms 10-Q/K as well as other Corporate segment and Enterprise reporting tasks. Candidate will work with the Accounting functions of the Company’s various businesses to obtain information for consolidation and reporting, as well as to provide required/requested information. Position will also support various other Corporate Accounting processes, system maintenance and enterprise projects. Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree with accounting concentration and at least four years of related experience.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Complete surveys as required for various external parties
  • Assist Legal group with preparation of annual Proxy statement
  • Perform source tie-ins and review of Forms 10-Q/K and quarterly supplementary information
  • Support PwC annual audit and quarterly reviews for SEC filings as well as SOX controls
  • Prepare footnote disclosures for Forms 10-Q/K as assigned
  • Review XBRL tagging in Forms 10-Q/K
  • Gather and compile information related to material contracts and related parties
  • Support Company benefit plans as required
  • Administer and review quarterly FDS submissions as required
  • Prepare detailed quarterly Calendar for SEC Reporting requirements
  • Maintain documentation of internal control processes in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
  • Administer internal quality control processes and procedures for Forms 10-Q/K
  • Serve as central point of contact in Corporate Accounting group; monitor and respond to incoming requests for information
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for the Cigna Foundation; work with team members across the organization to obtain required information
  • Ledger account reconciliation administration
  • Assist in supervision and development of co-ops in daily tasks, as well as perform administrative tasks related to co-ops
  • Provide information as required/requested to the Investor Relations and Legal groups
  • Work closely with offshore Accounting team for completion of analyses, journal entries and reconciliations

Qualification & Experience:

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment with tight deadlines
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting strongly preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Constant process improvement and efficiency mindset
  • Public accounting and/or insurance related experience a plus, but not required
  • Flexibility to work during off-peak hours during peak reporting periods
  • Motivated, proactive self-starter who takes ownership and is results oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Advanced Excel, Word); experience with Workiva Wdesk and HFM a plus
  • Four or more years of related Accounting experience
