Job Description:

Reporting into the EMEA Controller and with 4 direct reports, the Director will lead an EMEA accounting team, consisting of senior managers, managers, senior accountants and accountants, providing best in class accounting and financial reporting services across all lines of business. The teams focus on general ledger close and reporting, and compliance and controls. They also provide essential financial support services to the EMEA finance management team including design and execution of accounting requirements for new business opportunities and identify and drive continual process improvements.

The Director will be responsible for creating an environment that promotes employee development, motivation, retention and effective staff utilisation. They will also be accountable for the design of strong financial controls and enforcement of compliance with corporate accounting policies and US GAAP. Finally, the Director will be the key liaison between Controllership and many internal and external stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the Direct to Consumer, Networks, Content Sales, Consumer Products, Games & Publishing and Functional Support accounting teams
  • Accountable to the EMEA finance leadership and US segment reporting teams as well as local country controllers to ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial transactions and data
  • Reports to the EMEA Controller
  • Responsible for regional Controllership budget management
  • Work with both finance leadership and the business partners in ensuring all accounting and reporting needs are met, including design and implementation of new accounting and reporting processes to address new business initiatives
  • Business partner to line of business Finance teams (EMEA regional, local market, and US divisional), ensuring service levels provided are maintained at a high standard and any issues are promptly and appropriately addressed and rectified
  • Primary liaison on accounting and audit matters with the EMEA finance leadership, internal and external auditors, and US segment reporting teams.
  • Responsible for the overall management of the team within the EMEA Regional Centre, with direct focus on the management team, promoting effective delegation and staff utilization, professional development, cross training and talent succession planning
  • Oversee a team, ensuring all key milestones and deliverables are completed on time and accurately to support the quarterly financial close and reporting to the regional and local country stakeholders
  • Drive continual process improvements to ensure optimal design of processes that are scalable, efficient, and effective, as well as measureable through our key performance indicators
  • Define and prepare performance indicators and recommend / follow through on actions to improve processes and drive efficiencies
  • Prepare and present quarterly financial results to executive management
  • Responsible for review and validation of key subjective accounting provisions and other accounting judgment calls
  • Coordinate audits and compliance with accounting policies with all the local market controllers

Job Requirements:

  • Command of additional European languages a plus
  • Entertainment and Media experience/knowledge is a plus
  • Strong understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
  • Experience in managing and developing a large team
  • Qualified accountant, preferably US CPA or UK ACA with strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • Extensive experience in finance/accounting
  • Excellent communication skills across all level of staff from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong project management skills, SAP knowledge and process improvement credentials is beneficial
  • Experience in external audit and Sarbanes Oxley testing is valuable
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS
  • Management experience in a multicultural environment is essential
  • Experience including general ledger accounting, auditing, tax and compliance
