Job Description:
Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity and normally cares for around 14,000 dogs across its network of 21 rehoming centres in the UK and one in Dublin. Dogs Trust has a non-destruction policy and will never put a healthy dog to sleep. The charity also focuses its efforts on understanding dogs and sharing that knowledge with the wider public to prevent problem behaviours that can result in relinquishment or abandonment. We are working towards the day when all dogs can enjoy a happy life, free from the threat of unnecessary destruction.
As a part of the veterinary team based at the London office, primarily you will be involved in the liaison between our Rehoming Centres and veterinary practices to ensure we are offering the best welfare for our dogs, whilst considering charitable funds. This varied role also includes providing veterinary input into the wide-ranging teams across Dogs Trust on a daily basis. This position normally includes regular travel to, and occasional clinical work, in our rehoming centres.
As one of our amazing colleagues has recently been promoted to Senior Veterinary Surgeon, we are seeking a Registered MRCVS with a commitment to our work, aims and values. To succeed in this position, you should have a good base of small animal practice experience along with excellent communication and organisational skills. The team works with an ethos of continual improvement in managing cases, based around the evidence that we have and a culture of learning and feedback; interest or experience in these areas would be valued.
We offer an attractive and competitive remuneration package along with the opportunity for your opinion to count and for you to help make a difference to our dogs.
