Job Description:
Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity and normally cares for around 14,000 dogs across its network of 21 rehoming centres in the UK and one in Dublin. Dogs Trust has a non-destruction policy and will never put a healthy dog to sleep. The charity also focuses its efforts on understanding dogs and sharing that knowledge with the wider public to prevent problem behaviours that can result in relinquishment or abandonment. We are working towards the day when all dogs can enjoy a happy life, free from the threat of unnecessary destruction.
Job Responsibilities:
The Directorate includes the Veterinary, Public Affairs and Outreach teams. In this role you will provide comprehensive support to the Veterinary Director (VD) including diary, correspondence and travel/accommodation management, as well as supporting the VD with various committees. Other responsibilities include support for the wider team (via heads of department), providing grant management for our Canine Welfare Grants programme, and full administrative for Dogs Trust Ethical Review Board, working closely with the Chair and Board members. You will also be required to offer full administration support to other key projects within the directorate.
Our Veterinary Directorate play an important role in the Dogs Trust’s mission and strategy, providing vital veterinary care, promoting responsible ownership, highlighting animal welfare issues, and lobbying parliament to drive reform in animal welfare regulations.
Job Requirements:
To be successful in this role you’ll be a highly experienced PA or EA , with excellent administrative, organisation and interpersonal skills, and a professional, courteous and proactive approach. In addition, you will have the ability to manage a heavy and varied workload, determine priorities, change direction at short notice, as required, whilst always remaining calm under pressure. You will be conscientious with meticulous attention to detail and will have experience. Previous grant management experience will be a huge benefit.
