Job Responsibilities:

In this critical role, you will be responsible for the overall daily material handling functions for the facility and for the department. You will ensure proper material flow throughout the entire process – from the receiving dock, to the warehouse storage location to the production line feed location, to the delivery of finished products to customers. You will be:

  • Create a conducive work environment for the team(s) to complete their assigned responsibilities / tasks
  • Provide direction and support in the allocation of resources in order to appropriately cover material handling responsibilities
  • Support Ford Production System and synchronous material flow through lean manufacturing practices
  • Build hourly Team Leader and Team Member capability
  • Meet First Time Through, inventory, cost, scrap, supply, and tooling expense targets
  • Coach Safety, Quality and Productivity by following standardized work
  • Ensure proper material flow from receiving dock, to marketplace storage location, to the production line feed location, to the delivery of finished product to customers
  • Responsible for the daily material handling functions for the facility and for the department
  • Lead and manage unionized hourly personnel
  • Provide communication and recognition
  • Support Kaizen (Continuous Improvement) and coach problem resolution to the lowest level
  • Assure all safety, quality, delivery, cost, morale, environment, production throughput, budgets, practices, objectives, and improvements are met

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Capable of assigning work to unionized hourly workforce and holding employees accountable for following processes pertaining to daily work assignments in terms safety, quality, and throughput
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict management skills
  • Ability to work any shift as well as rotating shifts and weekend
  • Strong interpersonal, administrative, multi-tasking, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
  • High school diploma or GED
  • One or more years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Background in auto manufacturing
  • Experience managing a unionized workforce
  • Outstanding interpersonal, team building, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of constraint management and maintenance operating system principles
  • Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles
  • Previous safety and quality experience
