The Banking & Proposition Team is at the heart of first direct, bringing together the needs of first direct customers with the banks proposition, portfolio strategy and the commercial returns that the bank is aiming to achieve.
We’re looking for a Service Designer to join our team to help launch our new brand purpose, deliver what matters at heart to our customers and grow our business.
First Direct disrupted what banking looked like, bringing you a revolutionary branchless bank experience so you could bank from home anytime you wanted, 24 hours a day. We have continued to innovate ever since and kept our top position in best customer service award.
As a service designer, you’ll work closely with proposition managers to lead the creation of service blueprints end to end and passionately represent the human perspective.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to create and maintain journey maps, personas and user flows
  • Help plan and execute user research to ensure we are seeking right customer insight to aid business decisions
  • Help identify pain points, opportunities and future paths for our business and customers
  • Navigate complex systems of touchpoints and champion a problem-first approach
  • Anchor the design process in user needs as well as business value and feasibility
  • Facilitate co-design activities (e.g. workshops) of delightful user experiences
  • Manage stakeholders in complex environments and take them on the experience design journey

  • You’re a problem solver at heart and strive to look beyond symptoms to explore the core needs and pains.
  • You’re a strong communicator and facilitator. You’re able to tell a story so your audience will want to listen and zoom into detail when needed to help your solutions come to life.
  • You are an expert at translating problems into opportunities for the business
  • You’re not afraid of speaking up and be a vocal advocate of the user
