Job Description:
As a Screwfix Product Designer, you will use your creative skills in the delivery of design solutions for a number of digital products and features, for Screwfix across differing territories. There is the opportunity to work on delivering industry leading features for complex journeys on a number of established digital products, from conception through to feature and component delivery.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop visual approaches through storyboards, mock-ups, iconography and style-guides
- Produce animations to demonstrate interactions
- Define the user interface experiences through sketches, information architecture, wireframes and user flows
- Prototype concepts to help communicate approach and for validate through testing
- Work collaboratively with on-site and off-site teams to ensure that design specifications are implemented to standard
- Follow, contribute and maintain a shared component and pattern library to support feature reuse across Digital
- Communicate design rationale and approach, and how it relates to research findings, brand requirements and user needs
- Create light weight specifications and style guides to supplement designs / prototypes for delivery teams.
Job Requirements:
- Practical experience using a variety of methods to convey ideas, and know what format is appropriate to audience (sketches, storyboards, wireframes, mock-ups, animations, interactive prototypes and user flows)
- Demonstrate communication skills when sharing design ideas and concepts
- Experience using animation tools such as Principle, and video editing tools such as After Effects
- Minimum 2 years industry experience designing user interface experiences for products that exist in the real world
- Works across the entire design process from concept, to defining the fine details of user interaction components, through to supporting delivery
- Working closely with Design Researchers develop a good understanding of our users, their needs and pain points, and how to design for them.
- Knowledge of web based technologies, and their impact on the feasibility of design
- Reviewing / interpreting web analytics data to inform design decisions
- Experience working in an Agile multidisciplinary delivery team
- Practical experience using design and prototyping tools (eg Sketch, Adobe CC, Figma, Abstract, io)
- Fluent in craft fundamentals (ie layout, visual hierarchy, colour, typography and iconography)
