Job Description:
Toyota’s Powertrain Test Department (PTT) is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Sr. Engineer – Powertrain Lab Data Quality. This process owner will be responsible for the implementation and management of data quality process for the development and certification evaluation of conventional and electrified powertrains in engine, drivetrain, and chassis test cells at Toyota R&D in Ann Arbor.
Job Responsibilities:
- Review and approval of calibration and maintenance reports
- Coordination with safety, environmental, facilities, and maintenance organizations
- Presentation of technical reports to TMNA and TMC management.
- Development of data quality performance indicators and monitoring process to understand ongoing data accuracy and stability
- Validation of data collected from new equipment installations/upgrades/repairs
- Monitoring compliance with testing, quality, and lab standards
- Creation and review of standard work processes
Job Requirements:
- Demonstrable understanding of regulatory standards (e.g., 40 CFR Parts 1065 & 1066 or similar)
- Familiarity with typical automotive test cycles (e.g., FTP, US06, SC03, etc.)
- Experience with HORIBA, Meiden, MAHA, AVL, FEV test equipment, including dynamometers, emissions analyzers, and other related measurement tools & systems
- Leadership experience (process ownership, quality management, safety management, mentoring)
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite
- Demonstrable knowledge of Quality Assurance/Management principles
- Bachelor of Science degree (or higher) in Engineering (any engineering discipline)
- Powertrain design/calibration/testing laboratories
- Demonstrable knowledge of ICE exhaust emissions, measurement equipment and procedures
- Expertise in the use of data acquisition equipment and analysis tools
- Toyota work experience
- Demonstrable ability to successfully manage all aspects of an evaluation project (incl. planning, work scheduling, task prioritization, budgeting, technical report writing)
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- Familiarity with IATF 16949 and ISO 17025
- Experience in Data Quality / Data Validation / Quality Assurance process ownership
- Experience in managing Data/Document Repository Systems
- Extensive experience in engine or vehicle testing (incl. FE and emissions measurement, calibration, certification, press/temp/flow/strain measurement, failure analysis)
- Team-oriented thinking, structured problem-solving, and a “can-do” attitude
- Advanced Degree in Engineering
