Toyota Internships – Purchasing Supplier Development Engineer

Job Description:

Toyota’s Purchasing Supplier Development (PSD) Engineering Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to lead the development of New Model products, processes and suppliers. To achieve this goal, the Engineer will deploy the PSD New Model Development Operational Procedure.
The person in this role will support the PSD Engineering Department’s objective to ensure a globally competitive supply chain in the areas of Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost and Human Development.

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop, execute, and modify project strategies for critical parts, as defined by ranking
• Maintain and communicate responsible part status information for internal project KPI visualization internally and externally
• Utilize process engineering and Toyota Production System skills, through collaborative work with suppliers’ teams, to ensure design and implementation of optimal manufacturing processes
• Execute and manage the PSD operating procedure for specific change part content over multiple programs
• Lead supplier teams to root cause problem solving, consensus building, and project completion utilizing Toyota business practices
• Set project schedule to achieve set objectives and KPI’s

Job Requirements:

• Experience with Tool & Die Structure and Design for Stamping, Welding, Casting, Injection Molding and/or Forging
• Automotive manufacturing experience, working directly for an Automotive OEM or Automotive Supplier
• Experience and knowledge in General Automotive Body and Vehicle Structures
• Experience reading drawings/prints, inclduing the ability to discuss basic GD & T for manufactured parts
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 50%
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or similar technical field
• Experience in design feedback activity for manufacturability or cost reduction initiatives
• Experience with Catia /AutoCAD/Autoform
