Job Description:

Toyota’s Performance Analysis and Evaluation Aerodynamic/Thermal group is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Technician
The primary responsibility of this role is to execute evaluations and support the creation and kaizen of new and existing processes, with a strong focus on safety.
Reporting to the Technician Supervisor, the person in this role will support the Performance Analysis and Evaluation Aerodynamic/Thermal groups objective to safely and accurately collect and report data both statically and dynamically to support vehicle development for North American Customers.

Job Responsibilities:

• Instrumentation of test vehicles for thermal evaluations
• Properly setup thermal instrumenting and identify data acquisition equipment needed to ensure data quality and accuracy
• Maintain project milestones with communicating gaps to supervisor
• Complete Job instruction sheets and Risk Assessments
• Perform all necessary mechanical work to prepare for standard evaluations
• Perform safety checks on vehicles to ensure safe operation
• Support evaluation using CATIA to create section
• Work in different evaluation areas to support current and future workload
• Data analysis during real time testing to monitor evaluation KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators)
• Post evaluations, confirm data for accuracy based on KPI’s and organize in graphs and tables to meet standard report needs
• Maintains workplace environment that adheres to safety/5S standards
• Write technical reports to summarize evaluation results and conclusions for standard evaluations
• Write comprehensive weekly reports
• Participate in long term planning, group action plans, and safety initiatives
• Communicate results to related engineers
• Conduct standard chassis dyno thermal evaluations based on test standards
• Operate climatic dyno facility and test equipment for thermal evaluations

Job Requirements:

• Experience with ECU reflash’s for map changes and data acquisition of CAN data through OBD and ECU’s
• Experience to replace, retrofit, Engine Cooling and HVAC components
• Strong machine shop and fabrication experience
• Experience to build, fabricate and standardize new testing equipment
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel for Evaluation data processing and analysis (ex. Data graphing, formulas, and basic VBA)
• Availability to travel 20% of the time both domestic and international and work overtime as required
• CAE modeling experience in ANSA / Star CCM+/ HYPERMESH / HYPERVIEW
• Experience using virtual tools like CAD software (CATIA)
• A motor vehicle record that’s acceptable by company standards is required for this position
• Experience in writing macros in Excel or programing of equipment
• Toyota middle class & T1 Trailer towing driver’s license
• Experience with operating and evaluation using climatic chassis dyno
• Experience with the data acquisition equipment used to collect evaluation data; for example, temperature, pressure, and airflow
• Associates degree (or higher) or equivalent relevant work experience
• Experience subjective and objective evaluation of thermal systems, including Engine Cooling and HVAC performances
