Job Description:
Toyota’s Fuel Cell Department (FCD) is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Senior Engineer to work in the area of electrified powertrain control development.
The primary responsibility of this role is developing powertrain control software for Hydrogen fuel cell heavy duty truck and car applications.
Reporting to the Fuel Cell Vehicle Group (FCV) Senior Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support, with general guidance and coaching, the development of electrified vehicle powertrain kits for heavy duty truck and other zero emissions vehicles powertrain control.
Job Responsibilities:
- Working closely with systems, wire harness, hardware electronics and component engineers
- Domestic and International travel ~30%
- Bringing vetted ideas for solving development data communication strategies for CAN gateway functionality
- Supporting fault detection and diagnostic requirements for all related functions
- Designing and calibrating control software to deliver torque and speed to the wheels utilizing related powertrain component
- Working with controllers necessary to communicate and carry out the powertrain function in delivering requested torque and speed, within system limitations
Job Requirements:
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the desire to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Not afraid to get your hands dirty to address challenges (design it, build it, fix it)
- Proven ability to understand, modify, and create powertrain control software
- Proven ability to understand system level powertrain schematics and control architecture.
- Master of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive or Mechatronic Engineering
- Experience in powertrain controls development
- Excellent understanding of MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, C, CANAnalzer/CANoe, Targetlink, SAE J1939 and other powertrain software coding software.
- Highly motivated self-starter with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with heavy duty alternative fuel vehicle
- Excellent understanding of Agile Methodology and Software Development V Cycle process, MIL/SIL/HIL, Controls Engineering.
- Experience in electrified powertrain controls development
- Experience working with or within Toyota or Toyota Related Companies
