Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for various duties in the preparation and review of journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules to the Company’s financial statements. Expected to coordinate accounting matters with specific departments, location and/or divisions, as necessary. Instructs or assigns work to other accountants and/or accounting support roles engaged in general accounting activities.

  • Conducts special studies and develops or recommends accounting methods and procedures.
  • Identifies problems in procedures and provides solutions for future reliability of accounting data.
  • Helps maintain strong control environment particularly around review controls.
  • Prepares and reviews month-end journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules used in financial reporting.
  • Prepares reports and supporting schedules for management review.
  • Verifies checks and balances are in place in all departments.
  • Analyzes records of financial transactions to determine accuracy and completeness of entries
  • Mentors more junior level accountants through coaching and example.
  • Prepares periodic reports comparing budgeted costs to actual costs. Helps control costs by providing and discussing reports to management.

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent computer skills required; Microsoft Office suit with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Understanding of general accounting concepts and standards required.
  • Experience with financial software preferred.
  • Ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to research, analyze, and report data with guidance from accounting management.
  • Ability to work well independently, as well as, in a team environment under tight deadlines and high-volume pressure.
  • CPA designation preferred.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use processes, tools and techniques for exploring and evaluating alternative financial scenarios and results.
