Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Perform basic and routine preventative maintenance on tractors and trailers as outlined in USX pm guidelines.
  • Grease mechanical parts.
  • Act as a mentor and trainer to Tractor Tech I and II’s as needed.
  • Perform in depth diagnostic and repairs on engines, transmission, driveline, HVAC, electrical, suspension, brakes and air systems etc.
  • Repair/replace bolts on body parts such as hoods and cab extenders.
  • Maintain a high level of productivity and be able to work within or better than SRT times.
  • Perform 90 day lease operator inspections.
  • Check vehicle fluids (e.g. transmission, oil, windshield wiper, antifreeze, etc.).
  • Perform basic or minor repairs and inspections on brakes, tires, wiring etc.
  • Drive trucks in and out of shop before and after repairs.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and all other forms of documentation in timely fashion.
  • Change vehicle tires.
  • Perform DOT inspections as outlined in USX guidelines.
  • Perform open seat inspections to prepare tractor for next driver.
  • Clean and maintain work area on a daily basis.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be consistently capable of independently analyzing and safely resolving mechanical problems.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Must provide own hand tools that is adequate to perform job functions.
  • Ability to read and write.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Some college/trade school preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of tractor experience required.
  • A Technical Diploma from an accredited Diesel Technology Program may substitute for 1 year of the required experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
