Volkswagen Jobs – Laboratory Analyst

Job Description:

Volkswagen, in Chattanooga, Tennessee is looking for an experienced laboratory analysis specialist, to be responsible for material testing of metal and polymer parts and assemblies. The specialist will perform initial sampling, failure analysis, and planning/execution of laboratory activities to analyze and eliminate material related problems with vehicle parts and manufacturing processes.

Job Responsibilities:

• Harmonize corrective measures with different departments
• Tracking of Material Improvements of Suppliers within assigned Part Responsibility
• Analyze and create measures to eliminate material-related problems of vehicle parts
• Lead material testing process with outside laboratories (other VW and external laboratories)
• Responsible for commodity specific parts
• Interpretation and validation of laboratory test results
• Analysis of vehicle components with material problems, root cause analysis, failure analysis.
• Planning and conducting part related laboratory tests
• Recommend corrective measures to fulfill quality standards
• Tracking and communicating of all Laboratory results

Job Requirements:

• Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
• 3+ years of experience in Automotive industry
• 5+ years of experience in material development and/or material tests in laboratories
• Understanding of influences to material properties and corresponding tests
• German or Spanish fluent
• Advanced degree
• Material know-how in processing of polymeric or metallic materials
• 4 year degree or comparable background of work related experience preferred; engineer in material sciences or mechanical engineer
