Job Description:

The Interoperability Lead reports to the Manager Charging Technology and is responsible for leading Electrify America’s charger-to-vehicle interoperability efforts. The candidate will take on the primary task of delivering and ensuring maximum interoperability between all of Electrify America’s charging systems with existing and future electric vehicle platforms across incumbent and new vehicle OEMs in the North American auto market. This includes charging system hardware-, software-, system integration- and design-reviews.

Candidate will take technical deep-dives with team members, vendors and partners into various international standards, such as SAE J1772, ISO-15118, DIN 70121 and ISO/IEC-61851 to explore, understand and fix interoperability issues. In this role, the Interoperability Lead will be responsible to source, implement and use suitable test tools required for interoperability testing and train other team members on them. Strong understanding of the interplay between power electronics, EMC design, noise and their effects on physical communication layers and error correction is required. Will work closely with ELAM charging systems hardware and software development teams, quality team and Scrum master to plan and execute timely interoperability improvements.

The role has strategic and technical input into the system requirements development process related to interoperability. The successful candidate will plan and execute standards compliance testing together with industry-recognized providers and subject matter experts. The role’s tasks are closely linked to Electrify America’s testing team efforts, needing continuous alignment to ensure interoperability test cases are correctly and timely executed during sprint testing in an AGILE environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with vehicle OEMs to address any interoperability issues
  • Lead root cause analysis of system logs to identify issues
  • Support to correctly identify and categorize field interoperability bugs
  • Help identify field and lab issues and recommended fixes
  • Specify requirement changes related to vehicle interoperability
  • Field interoperability root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
  • Conduct code/implementation reviews with suppliers to ensure vehicle interoperability
  • Plan and conduct standards compliance and interoperability testing
  • Hardware and software design review, incl. EMC
